Portraits of Valor: The Faces of Courage & Honor

National Premiere August 15-September 20, 2008

A sampling of guest book comments.

As a docent I had the privilege of hearing a young child express how a MOH recipient came to his school and was touched by his briefing - then went on to tell his mother he wanted the Portraits of Valor-Medal of Honor book for his birthday present.

An amazing exhibit. I've been moved by both the exhibit (my second visit) and the exposure I have seen at local schools (Prairie Middle School, Overland High School, Smokey Hill High School and Evergreen). I hope this exhibit moves across every major city in the US - every US citizen should have a chance to see it and know the stories.

What a great testimony of heroism and dedication to country and fellow soldiers.

I've been here 4 times now. It's incredible and I cried through the whole exhibit the first time. I had no idea what men did who get this award. Send it national.

The courage represented here is definition of the American soul. No words are sufficient to express our great appreciation - we can only be better Americans because of these men - and we must be.

What a beautiful remembrance to all our gallant men and women who have served our country.

It's really great to be able to see all of these amazing stories! A lot of people don't really think that this means much to a fifteen year old, but this display puts freedom into a whole new perspective. We also had a Medal of Honor recipient come to our school, which was so AMAZING! Thanks for all that you guys do. Go USA!

This is such an amazing honor to be able to see this. This is a life-changing experience. The soldiers of those wars gave up their lives, so we could live ours. That's an unforgettable gesture.

Seeing this is life changing. All the things these soldiers did are amazing. It is an HONOR to get to see everything.

What a beautiful and meaningful exhibit. We came 25 miles on the very last day just to see it. A very sincere "thank you" to all service members, past and present!!!

This is a beautiful and moving homage to these brave men. Everyone should see this exhibit and honor these men the way they have honored our country and us.

The love these men had for their comrades is almost unbelievable! Thanks for your bravery.

Life as I know it would be very different and I suspect not as sweet, if not for the heroes here and throughout our beautiful country. Thank you!

It's hard to hold back the tears. It was the same for me on a recent trip to the American Cemetery at Normandy Beaches. Thanks to all service men and women.

It has been quite an honor for our city to host you. Words cannot express our gratitude for your valor in defense of our country.

Thank you for bringing these meaningful stories to Denver. The respectful display is both moving and educational. We should all be proud of this spirit and the brave actions of all who fight for our country.

Thanks to these great Americans who sacrificed so much for all of us. I'm glad my children had a chance to see the display.

While I stand in awe, I hear the sounds of a family singing Happy Birthday to a young child. It is from and through, and because of, your sacrifices that we are allowed the freedom to spend time with loved ones, without terror or fear - and for this, I thank you…

This is a heart-warming and heart-rendering experience. These men are the royalty of the Armed Services. I honor and respect them.

These portraits are an inspiration to anyone who thinks courage is in short supply. Thank you to all the Medal of Honor recipients for their strength of spirit and indomitable will in the face of overwhelming odds.

I live in the best country in the world! I will never be able to offer you enough appreciation for your bravery and courage that made it so.

Many, many thanks for this glorious and poignant exhibit. It is a blessing.

This is a wonderful exhibit. I want to join the military.

Thank you to all who serve this great country of ours. I have visited several times. I am always moved. I understand that the cost of freedom is high. Many have shed their blood or given their lives so I can be free physically and ideologically.

Words cannot express my gratitude for your service. My heart has been touched. The tears have flowed.

Your words, your pictures, your stories and love of country are incredibly inspiring. Thank you for your service and generosity.

This is a fine display that should be required viewing for all.

Thank you all for your fidelity and love of your fellow combatants. Wear that medal with pride for the man on the left and right.

This should be seen all across the country. Very moving!

This took my breath away! What a wonderful exhibit and a thrill to actually see the Medals of Honor. Thanks to all of the military for making the commitment they do.

Many men wonder what they would do if in an important battle they found themselves at the intersection of hell and happenstance and had an opportunity, at the risk of their life to go over and above the call of duty to turn the tide battle. Today (Sept 18, 2008) there are 100 living men…who do not wonder…they've done it.

This display needs to be seen by all citizens of this great country. It needs to be opened at all major cities. Putting this display at college and universities would also be worthwhile. To the Medal of Honor awardees, we appreciate your service to this great nation. Thank you for allowing your deeds to be used to educate and inspire younger generations. Thank you also for your "words of wisdom." They are thoughtful and well spoken.

I truly appreciated the recognition to our American heroes with this exhibit. If this could be compiled and made into an educational resource for all our youth in schools in a video presentation - so that there would be more role models available for our children, this would help so much.

Beautifully done. I am the daughter of an AFA graduate and granddaughter of a West Point grad. I am proud of the great display you have done.

This is a wonderful, informative display of the individuals that have risked their lives to keep the USA free. This information needs to be shown across the United States to thank all that served. This display brings front and center what it means to truly love this country and your fellow soldiers. Thanks a million for the presentation and thanks most of all to those whose stories I had the honor to read.

A most wonderful contribution to our nation - - this exhibit is a must for all generations to see and discuss. I hope the exhibit will tour the whole USA.

Thank you for sharing this exhibit on "Portraits of Valor" which is certainly is. This should be exhibited everywhere and for students to see to know how these men fought and what they endured! God bless them all and all our military (male and female) and God Bless America and all our heroes and families.

It is truly an honor to see this exhibit dedicated to my great-great-great grandfather and the many other heroes recognized for their valor with the Medal of Honor. Freedom of the press was not won or preserved by journalists, but by these heroes and their fellow soldiers and sailors. The same goes for our other freedoms. God Bless America.

Thank all of you who have served our country so gallantly! The freedoms we enjoy now are part of your sacrifices made in the name of duty, honor and patriotism. We also need to thank the Medal of Honor Society for bringing the men to different parts of our country so we can see the Honoree's and thank them personally.

You did not choose to be heroes. You chose to give us freedom. Thank you and may that choice never be wasted. Freedom has a price. Thank you for paying that price.
